Platelet-Rich-Plasma
PRP (Platelet-Rich-Plasma) is a non-operative treatment option for traumatic arthritis of the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, and ankle to decrease inflammation and restore mobility.
PRP is also a non-operative treatment for soft tissue injuries involving tendons (pulleys that connect muscle to bone). Tendon injuries such as lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and Achilles tendonitis are routinely treated and cured by PRP.
PRP utilizes the patient’s own blood to concentrate the platelets which are re-injected into the affected area. The concentrated platelets in the blood contain the growth factors that allow the tissues to heal.
The human body has the ability to heal itself and the concentrated platelets in PRP facilitate our natural healing process.
If you have been told you require a total joint replacement, we encourage you to get a second opinion with us to determine if you are a candidate for PRP which can resolve your symptoms and avoid surgery. Keep Moving!!
