Non-Surgical
At LAOI our priority is to provide non-surgical care and orthopedic education to our community. We focus on using non-invasive methods to alleviate pain, improve function, and promote healing.
Non-surgical orthopedic treatment options at LAOI include:
- Physical therapy: exercises and techniques that help improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion.
- Medications: over-the-counter or prescription pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medications to help manage pain and inflammation.
- Injections: corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation and pain, or viscosupplementation injections which are a type of lubrication for joints. Platelet-rich plasma therapy and injections promote the natural healing of joints and soft tissues.
- Bracing: the use of splints, casts, or braces to support and protect an injured area.
- Lifestyle modifications: changes to diet and exercise habits to promote healing and prevent future injuries.
- Chiropractic care: manual manipulation of the spine to improve joint function and reduce pain
- Acupuncture: traditional Chinese medicine that uses thin needles to stimulate specific points on the body to relieve pain and improve function.
- Massage therapy: manipulative techniques to help relax muscles and improve blood flow, which can aid in the healing process.
These non-surgical treatments are often used as a first line of treatment for orthopedic conditions, as they can be effective in managing pain and improving function without the need for surgery
